Most Surgery is Scheduled at Your Convenience and on
Fridays
Once we have agreed that surgery is your best option, you will
be introduced to our surgical coordinator Yazmin. You, and your
family, will meet with Yazmin to determine the best date for
your surgery. She will coordinate preoperative medical
clearance, lab studies and schedule your post-operative
visit.
Unless your surgery is an emergency, you will need medical
clearance from your primary care provider (PCP) and may need to
obtain pre-operative lab studies such as a chest-xray, EKG and
blood work. These are required by state laws and depend on your
specific medical history, symptoms and age.
I normally schedule non-emergent surgical cases for Fridays at
the Woodburn Surgical Center located in front of INOVA Fairfax
Hospital. Yazmin will give you specific instructions as to
which medications you may take, remind you NOT to eat after
midnight the night before surgery and let you what time to show
up for surgery.
