Two Types of Eye Drops Following Retinal Surgery
and Maybe, Just Maybe Some Tylenol |
Drops - There are 2 different drops
1. Antibiotic Drop - usually a tan colored top
2. Prednisolone Acetate 1% - usually white or pink colored
top
Directions for Using the Drops
•Use one drop of each 4x per day (e.g. breakfast, lunch,
dinner, bedtime).
•Use in any order, but wait 1-2 minutes before applying the
second drop. This way, the first drop won't be washed out.
•When the the antibiotic drop is finished - throw away.
•Continue the Prednisolone Acetate 1% (white or pink top) until
Dr. Wong recommends stopping it. You may be using this more
than one month!
What About Pain Medication?
• In almost every case, I simply recommend ibuprofen (e.g.
Advil) or Tylenol (e.g. acetaminophen) for pain.
• I really do not expect there to be much pain at all. Most
discomfort after surgery is actually from the eye patch!
